Irish Plates UK
Irish plates UK are plates that are issued from Coleraine in Northern Ireland but can be transferred to English vehicles in England, Scotland and Wales. The format of these plates is always the same, they will always have an I or a Z in them. There is some interesting history to these plates such as a very rare plate BZ 811 was on a 1930 Wallis and Stevens road haulage tractor which is non-transferrable.
The ultimate BZ plate was BZ 1. All we can say, it was last seen in Chelsea, London and we do not know who owns that plate. If we look at CZ 1 and 1 CZ, they belong to Alan Sinclair, in Cookstown in County Tyrone. He owns them both and the pair are probably worth in excess of £100,000. Moving on to DZ, we don't have a great deal of history on these. In fact the earliest we have is DZ 868 which is in Ulster Transport Museum and is on a 1933 MG J2 Sports. The next record is a DZ 1034 which is on a 1934 Jowett Kestrel Saloon. Quite interestingly DZ 8666 is on a Dennis Fire Engine.
